Katey Sagal
Katey Sagal, a gifted and versatile
performer capable of comedy as well as drama as well as singing, became a
household name in the 1980s, when she appeared in the character as Peg Bundy.
She was the eloquently open, unorthodox Peg Bundy on Fox's Married... with
Children (1987). She received two American Comedy Award nominations and three
Golden Globes over the show's lengthy run. Peg Bundy was equally popular and
popular as Katey, and she continued to appear in sitcoms on television. Katey
also played roles which were totally different from the one that initially
caught her national attention. In 2008, she took on the role as Gemma Teller
Morrow on Sons of Anarchy (2008). This role was the mother of a Hell's
Angels-esque California biker group. In 2011, her portrayal of this role was
recognized with an award for her performance in the Golden Globe Award as Best
Performance by an actor in a Television Series-Drama. Catherine Louise Sagal,
the daughter and director of Sara Zwilling and Boris Sagal were born January
19, 1954. Los Angeles native, Catherine Louise Sagal began performing at the
age of five. She then studied acting and voice at the California Institute of
the Arts in Valencia. As a waitress who sang during her "salad"
years, she started performing with the band "The Group Without a
name," then caught a break when she connected with Gene Simmons and his
1970s rock group KISS. She was also an alternate vocalist for Simmons and other
well-known celebrities like Bob Dylan, Olivia Newton-John and Tanya Tucker. She
also was a dynamic performer live alongside diva Bette Midler as one of her
"Harlettes" in Bette's wildly avant-garde stage shows during the late
1970s and early 1980s.
